Goal Safety

Byron Center AYSO takes safety seriously. Our goals and nets are no exception. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has reported 26 deaths and hundreds of injuries since 1979 resulting from soccer goal accidents. Most of these injuries occur when children climb on top of an unsecured goal, causing it to either break from the strain or simply flip over onto an unsuspecting victim. You only need to review some of the descriptions of injuries and deaths addressed in the CPSC report to become saddened by this easily-preventable problem.

No one should be climbing a soccer goal or a net. The nets are secured with clips and zip ties which are not designed to hold the weight of a player. Our goal frames are anchored, however with enough weight hanging from the cross bar it will tip over. Soccer goals are not playground equipment.

If at any time any Byron Center AYSO Volunteer observes a person climbing on or hanging from any goal or net they will tell the person to please stay off. We have no desire to be mean or to upset a child, but goal safety is serious.

Pet Policy

Byron Center AYSO has adopted a No Pets policy for all AYSO events, including all practices and games. This is in line with the National AYSO pet policy. Any Americans with Disabilities compliant services animal are always exempt from this policy.

For the safety of players and the enjoyment of all, we ask all parents, guests, and spectators to please leave your pets at home when you attend any AYSO event.

We know, your pet is another valued member of your family. However, because other may have allergies or be scared of animals, we don't allow pets on the fields. It is AYSO's goal to make your soccer season as safe as possible for you, your family, and even your pets. That's why we ask for you to leave your beloved family pet at home when you attend any AYSO event.

AYSO is obligated to observe and respect existing regulations and laws regarding the presence of service animals at our fields. Service animals are defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) as only dogs or miniature horses that have been trained to do work or perform tasks for the benefit of an individual with a disability. Other animals, whether wild or domestic, do not qualify as service animals.
